About the show

Stop Being Broken is primarily a show about usability. The focus is on real-world objects and interactions, though I admit a penchant for Human-Computer Interactions and the English language that may bring those topics to the surface from time to time.

Watch the show

You can watch individual episodes of Stop Being Broken right from within your web browser, or if you’d like free and automatic delivery to an aggregator (like iTunes, Google Reader, Bloglines, etc.) of your choice, I’ve set up a page on Feedburner to help with that.

Topics

Here are some of the things you might see covered in the show:

  • supermarkets
  • movie theaters
  • consumer electronics
  • copyright issues
  • web design
  • mixed metaphors
  • … almost anything, really

Then what?

A short-form video of “just some guy” giving his opinion about something broken, and then offering an idea for how to fix it, may understandably not be compelling to you, so I’ve included a voting doohickey attached to each video to let me know whether you agree or not. Certain topics may be revisited in the future depending on the response to any given video.

Why not just write your ideas down in a regular blog?

That’s a fair point. It would certainly be more searchable. However:

  • I’ve found there are certain ideas that are best conveyed alongside facial expressions, and a certain way of speaking
  • I really enjoy camera work, video editing, sound effects and music cues
  • I want to improve my public speaking and video production skills
  • Entertaining people is one of my primary motivators

Who are you?

My name is Bryan, and I like to discover and then share solutions to common problems.
